Everything becomes a memory if you wait long enough.
What is long enough?
You don’t think it’s that short until you realize
long enough is not even a day long,
a month long,
or a year long.

Maybe that’s when you realize
that long enough is shorter than a lifetime
or a lifetime is so short now
that a day is long enough
but a year passes as fast as one.

You just stop paying attention, and a year passes by.
and everything from today becomes a memory.
Everything that was today is now a year ago.
Everything becomes a memory,
every moment you enjoy
by yourself
every second long laugh you share with friends
every tear you shed for someone
all become a memory.

Friends become memories
The one you thought was the one becomes a memory
Your Festungsblick becomes a memory.

Even though you take a second to pay attention
to enjoy it
to take it all in.
The day will come soon enough
that everything you feel
everything you think
you see
you love
you learn
you enjoy
every little thing you sense
will become a memory
before you realize you’re old enough
with noone to go back to
or noone to long for
just floating in this
long enough
short enough
this thing they call life
that you enjoy
you hate
you fear
you love.

It will be soon enough
before you realize
it was a long enough time ago
that you should’ve realized
maybe made your decisions accordingly
to the sad sad fact
that life is not long enough
for you to chase your individual
and not realize that
life is only for you to share your laughter
for you to feel
to enjoy
only with your loved ones
the ones that you left behind.

Everything’s going to become a memory but your longing
for your loves, your ones, your alls
that will stay engraved in your soul
waiting to become a memory
but never will
making sure that you feel the hole
and the love, and the missing, and the lacking, and the longing
until the day
you’re graved under
with nothing but your regrets
and your memories
